After just six months of marriage, comedian Eddie Griffin and wife Nia Rivers finalized their divorce last month, documents at TMZ confirm.
The Malcolm and Eddie star, 43, and Griffin share a two-year-old son named King Edward Griffin. The couple tied the knot at a chapel in Las Vegas, but jointly filed for divorce just one month later, citing irreconcilable differences.
The couple agreed to joint custody of their little boy, with Griffin paying his ex $2,500 in monthly child support. They also both signed documents forbidding them from publicly discussing (via books, film or interviews) their marriage or split.
Edward James "Eddie" Griffin, Jr. (born July 15, 1968) is an American actor and comedian. He is best known for his sitcom, Malcolm & Eddie along with co-star, Malcolm-Jamal Warner, and his role in the 2002 comedy film Undercover Brother as the film’s title character.
This was Griffin’s third marriage. He married his first wife, Carla, in 1983 when he was 16-years-old and divorced one year later. Griffin married his second wife, Rochelle, in 2002. The actor reportedly has nine kids.
However, both parties have decided to seal their mouths on the issue.
